This beautiful and recently remodeled open-air theater is also known as "Anfiteatro Aquiles Sérdan" or "anfiteatro los arcos"  it is located just across Puerto Vallarta´s main square at downtown in front of "los arcos" (the arches) that are an icon of the city. It offers a variety of  artists such as:
Clowns, magicians, dancers, bands, orchestras, parades and much more!  and the best is that all of them are free to watch!  locals and tourists stop there after 5:00pm to enjoy their local-artist performing while the kids and adults laugh and interact with the artist. cotton-candies,tuba,chips and desserts is the delight of the crowd that enjoy the show. some people buy snacks or lunch to-go, before they sit and enjoy the show You Can´t miss this highlight of Puerto Vallarta during a Sunday afternoon walk at the boardwalk and if you are luky...you will be part of the show!! bring your camera and get ready for an espectacular sunset picture!

How to get there:
Taxi:
As an advise: always ask ¿cuanto?  (how much)  before jumping in a taxi so you agree on a price before and just tell the driver to take you to "los arcos del malecón"

Bus:
Any Blue bus that has "Centro" written on the windshield, will leave you one block away.

Bucerias.

Bucerias Slideshow

Bucerias means: "the place of divers"  and  it is a quiet, charming coastal town located only 25 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. Getting there is not difficult. an ATM grey bus will take you there. (it says "Bucerias" on the windshield and comes every 20 min.) or, a taxi will do it faster. I recommend start your walk by "Las Palmas" street. where The Royal DeCameron hotel is located. then make your way along Lazaro Cardenas street to Bucerias main square (around 20 min walk) You will love this colorful town!  all along this street you will find great restaurants, art galleries, bungalows, stores and huichol indians making and selling their products. (check map) at the end of Lazaro Cardenas street you will find "el paseo del beso" (The kissing lane) which is a very pintoresque place to visit and a must to see! If you do not want to walk that much, then start your walk at "Bonfil" street located at the heart of Bucerias. Sunday is by far the most entertaining day to visit the plaza. Families attend mass to "la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Paz" (The church of our Lady of the peace). food vendors sell all sorts of delectable treats and of course, great sea food! Bucerias also offers one of Mexico's finest uninterrupted flat, white-sand beaches that stretches for approximately seven miles and connects to Nuevo Vallarta to the south, and Cruz de Huanacaxtle to the north. I believe it is the longest beach on the bay.

How to get there:
Taxi:
As an advise: always ask ¿cuanto?  (how much)  before jumping in a taxi so you agree on a price before and just tell the driver to take you to "Bucerias"

Bus:
Take a grey/white bus with "Bucerias" written on the windshield

Marina Vallarta

Marina Vallarta is Located just 5 min away from our International airport, 20 min away from Downtown (south side) and 15 min away from Nuevo Vallarta (north side). Surrounded by World Class Resorts,Marina Vallarta offers a unique atmosphere in a great location near restaurants, Spa´s ,hair salons, real state agencies, and Sports bars.If you like boats,at Marina Vallarta you will find all kind of fishing boatssail boats, yachts and catamarans with the most professional captains and deckhands. If you want to rent a private boat for a bay cruise or fishing, my advise is to book it in one of the licensed agencies around (normally they have a sign outside with the name of the company and the services that they give like we do at Charly´s sailing and sport fishing) Ask for a receipt that has the same name of the business. There are a lot of  Time share people around that are not licensed to sell tickets or tours unless you go for the promotion: (time share meeting)
Walk along the board walk and watch the fishing boats arrive with the catch of the day!.
Make some time to enjoy a Margarita and watch the sunset at "El faro" (the light house)
Marina Vallarta also offers an 18 hole course designed by the famous American architect, Joe Finger..
So what are you waiting for!!  come and visit us!!

Las Animas Beach

This Golden sand Beach is located at the south part of the bay and it is one of my favorites!
It is a great spot if you want to relax, get sun, and enjoy calm waters. It is like a big swiming pool with the jungle behind you melting with the ocean!
Walk along it´s beautiful beach and watch the sunset from the pier is just spectacular!
It has a little adventure park for kids and not so kids where you can practice rock climbing or zip lining.
How to get there:
There are 3 ways to get there (as far as I know):
1.-By boat.
Can be a water taxi,a private boat or a bay cruise.
2.-Hiking
I have heard that is a 3hr hike-walk From Boca de Tomatlan (the last place you can get driving from Puerto Vallarta´s downton after Mismaloya)
3.- sky diving.
Well.... maybe not.

Mismaloya

OK amigos,Mismaloya is where everything started!
Here is a short story:
Mismaloya word comes from the Nahuatl: "Michmaloyan" that means: "Place where you get fish"
600 years before Christ was born,The vast kingdom that existed at that time was called Xalisco, and Nayarita ruled as King. Nayarita was envisioned as the god of battle and he fought bravely to keep this cove in his possession because it was known as the most beautiful spot in the entire kingdom of Xalisco!
In 1541 the settlements around the bay were named for the first time. The Spanish explorer Captain Don Pedro de Alvarado disembarked in Mismaloya and promptly named the entire area "Las Peñas" after the massive rocks that guard the entrance and serve as landmarks of Mismaloya Bay. these rocks are now called "the arches"
Mismaloya got the attention of the world when in 1963 Hollywood director John Huston chose to make the movie "Night of the Iguana" which changed the face of Puerto Vallarta forever. The publicity created by Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's love affair, and interest in the Mexican town where it occurred, put Puerto Vallarta on the world's map.
This secluded Beach is located 45 minutes away from the international airport and 20min away from Puerto Vallarta´s downtown. (south). As you arrive to Mismaloya, You will see at the other side of the road a bus stop and a street that takes you to Puerto Vallarta´s Zoo and as you make your way to the beach, art crafts and souvenir stands will catch your eye. This beach  offers and incredible view of  "the arches" national under-water park and a small bay where you can enjoy your favorite Mexican dish in one of the beach-front restaurants and palapas. Water sports, horseback riding along Mismaloya river, water taxis and pangas are some of the things to do here.Of course, the movie-set of the film "The night of the iguana" is a must!  Also if you hike inside the sierra madre jungle ,the movie set of the film "predator" starring the famous "Governator" Arnold Schwarzenegger awaits.

How to get there:
Taxi:
As an advise: always ask ¿cuanto?  (how much)  before jumping in a taxi so you agree on a price before and just tell the driver to take you to "Mismaloya"

Bus:
Any Orange Bus that has "Mismaloya" or "Boca de Tomatlan" written on the windshield, will leave you one block away.

You can take a water taxi from Los Muertos Beach,Boca de tomatlan,Nuevo Vallarta or Marina Vallarta.
